Alchemy: Transmutes should generate some small amount of xp

Post by squib »

As title. A little discouraging to not be rewarded for being helpful to your faction when passed all the mixmatched components. Burning them all with more extensive reroll research would be more xp efficient but bad for co-op play. Oh the sacrifices, we support classes make! It would be nice to be granted 2 or 3 xp for each transmute to off set the xp loss.

The possibility of conduit 0AP transmutes would probably have to be removed for this to be feasible. Overall I'd prefer a slight buff to xp for actually crafting a batch of potions - you get worse XP/AP for crafting a batch of potions than you get for an experiment (not that it's totally unrewarded, you do get the potions obviously, but it feels out of balance with research).

I'm thinking of a convoluted way to sort of get around this. Every time you transmute components a hidden counter increments by 1. Whenever you brew a batch of potions the counter resets to 0 and you get some bonus XP based on that counter. And maybe that counter has a cap so you can't get absurdly high XP from cheap transmutes and following up with brewing a single batch of potions.

I'd say maybe 1 bonus XP per transmute, capped to no more than 10 bonus XP per batch of potions created.

This seems like a neat idea, but does next to nothing for chatacters transmuting stuff into other stuff for factionmates. Or rather, it compels you to brew in order to profit. Nobody should be forced to brew. You brew if you want to, when you want to and (within reason) what you want to. Don‘t let anybody tell you otherwise! If your friends don‘t dance then they‘re no friends of mine. 😜
In all honesty, the idea has merit but I think we‘re not quite there yet.
a pink cocker spaniel, really an oddly colored canine
a scrawny kid in a hero costume, making a difference
Brother Fugue, hard to recall even on a good day
Opher Foxaches, malarky done right
Quinn Tessance, an outlaw with a touch of whimsy
the Butch West India Company man, real gentlemen never go out of style

What if the xp was turned off for conduits attuned to Matter? Which is the edge case, and far from the norm. Additionally, a slight boost to batch-maxing xp doesn't quite address the issue of spending lots of ap with no xp benefit. The amount of ap spent for a batch is variable and i think it makes sense for the xp bonus to be somehow proportional to that variability.

I feel like transmute xp shouldn't be a thing but it wouldn't hurt for the xp award from potion brewing to be increased a little to allow for transmutes taking up some of the action cost.

Giving xp to transmuting allows power flipping with ingredients which seems silly...

I approve of XP for transmuting.

And I don't think we will be getting the same Conduit end-game this time around so the 0AP transmute probably won't be an issue.
