This can't be an intended mechanic... Can it?
Since undead pets are immune to all death damage, including death auras from other liches (aren't they? I ran a lich last breath, and I think that was the case, but don't remember fights with other liches that well), and elementalist fire pets are immune to fire auras, so... Shouldn't water pets, who are immune to impact damage, be immune to the Eternal Soldier's kick auras?

The water pets should be immune to impact damage and immune to the natural ES aura.
However, ES do have the Way of Fire skill (https://wiki.nexusclash.com/wiki/Way_of_Fire) that lets them change their Aura to do Arcane for 15 minutes at a cost of 2AP and 10MP. It's mentioned in the Way of the Whirlwind skill page: https://wiki.nexusclash.com/wiki/Way_of_the_Whirlwind
So, if you find a ES, they likely won't have it up and your water pets can have free attacks. But, if the ES is active, they can turn this on and your water pets are in trouble.
Check the messages. Were your pets taking impact damage or arcane?

Code says they are immune to impact damage (and take half cold damage, a thing that apparently wasn't documented anywhere) so I do wonder if you were up against an Eternal Soldier who had charged their kick aura to Arcane. Water pets don't have any kind of protection against Arcane.

Looking at your logs, the source of the scenario seems to be a battle between your Lord Anonymous of 4Chan and Patrucio's William Butcher. He doesn't have Way of Fire, so that rules out Arcane-enhanced whirlwind aura.
That's a display bug, probably tied up in the sequence in which combat code is run when a petmaster is killed. Your Hydrodragon did die, but it died from the death of its summoner (since you don't have Tenacious Summoning); however, the code incorrectly claimed that it died of an aura of a damage type to which it is immune.
If I had to guess how this triggered, because the Hydrodragon's HP was at or below zero (since it was already dead) when the aura applied, that must have led the code that processes damage done to pets to assume that the aura must have landed its hit since the pet was dead.
Your water pets' impact immunity is working correctly, and would have gotten you the win here if the person you were fighting hadn't logged on and started throwing high-powered attacks. There's a very minor, niche display bug here, but no mechanics bug.
For almost all of the combat logs, this looks like it worked as intended - you attacked with Air and Water pets. Both triggered the aura ("They reflexively lashed out with a kick!") but only for the Air pets did the logs show any damage.
