The Emporium is currently floating away from our precious docks and we dont have the renown to kick the engines on. However, this image gave me an idea. What if Leylines, as magical flows of energy, had a physical impact on the world in the form of currents that ships could interact with?

Suggestion:
Ships passing over Leylines are given bonuses to ship movement.
Such as:
Percentage increase to drift as they are pulled along by the current
Percentage increase to drift in the direction the Leyline is flowing
Percentage increase for ships moving with engines to get a double movement in the direction of the Leyline / even more if already travelling in the Leylines direction
Depending upon the strength of the originating Font (depth) could impact the strength of the currents impact on the ship
Ships already going in a direction counter to the Leylines flow could encounter resistances
Reasoning:
It could give factions that want to be shipborne but cant afford engines easier ways to travel
Those able to change Leylanes/build mounds could have fun essentially building highways across the sea
It gives some dynamism to the sea and increased utility from Leylines in general
Could give rise to a bunch of ship upgrades to take advantage of or limit, the impact of Leylines
Failing this, we could possibly install permanent currents that those with certain skills can see and go in a circular motion around the map? Im too rubbish to photoshop something onto the game map - so real world stuff as proxy

Sunset Shimmer attacked you with a Frozen Gauntlet and hit for 62 points of holy damage. She was hiding! This attack was charged with righteous wrath! Their body strained with holy resolve as they added physical power to this attack! (2021-11-22)
This seems like it could get a bit messy if people started making a bunch of ley lines. Like if a group of elementalists built ley lines pointing S in the NW area, SW in the NE area, and W in the SE area could they 'gently encourage' all the boats into the open ocean?
That's not to say I think it's a bad idea, sounds fun.
Perhaps a simpler suggestion is to have an anchor option that actually works? Consumable purchase, fixes the ship in current location unless/until the SH activates engines?
