Tempest Straits Tile Search Updates

Post by Kandarin »

Some updates have been made to Tempest Straits tiles in recent days. In no particular order, they are:
  • Most significantly: since Tempest Straits has become Valhalla, a magical Nexal plane, the influence of the Powers of the Nexus is seeping into it. Many locations now have components and items that were entirely absent from the map because their magical origin meant they didn't exist in Tempest Straits' much more mundane history - items like Celestial Bronze or Stygian Coal.
  • The general frequency of items like planar books, spellgems and potions is up overall too, though not to as great a degree as components (and some familiar outer-planes items are still not a part of TS, like Angel Tears or Bone Leeches). In general, if you can harvest spellgems in a place you can find spellgems in that place - often of colors besides the one you can harvest.
  • It's possible that the process of Valhalla becoming more magical could continue in the future, whether in the form of other familiar outer-planes items appearing or other, more diverse ways.
  • The Wiki has been updated to ensure that every tile type article for a tile type that exists in Tempest Straits is current and accurate. If it's in the Valhalla Locations category, it's current. In a lot of cases this includes more lore related to the buildings or terrain in question.
  • This has been an opportunity to revisit a lot of Valhalla tile types to make search tables in a lot of places more interesting or desirable, or in some cases add functions like smithing, strongholds or alchemy to places where it made logical sense but was absent. One element of particular note is that the the vast majority buildings had identical, deeply undesirable outdoor search tables (matches, newspapers, rocks, wood, cigarettes). These have now been replaced with more interesting search tables across the board.
