Someone gave me a set of lockpicks and I got negative AP? O.o

Because Set o Lockpicks did indeed give them a set of lockpicks just a little while ago.

- You whisper, "Don't let those locked doors keep you out!" to Seraphine. (2022-07-27 20:21:09).
I have zero idea why doing so would reduce somebody's AP, though. Set o Lockpicks didn't do anything else to the character, and handing items to another player shouldn't have any affect on their AP totals.

Restoring power and repairing doors are both actions that take multiple AP, and can put you into negative AP. Were you doing either of those activities at the time?
Repairing a destroyed door costs 5 AP, toggling power costs 3.
