I too am heavily abusing the new mechanic where you can unplug and plug the power back indefinitely on the same location. This is excellent for me as I have multiple characters and for some the cognitive effort is thus eliminated. For a newcomer I would say it is a very unfun mechanic that should NOT be encouraged. For what my 2 cents are worth, I'd go back to the way Engineering was before.
Oh please no. Anyone who's bored can wander around looking for locations with power already on or off. But that can be incredibly frustrating. If door-repairers can get XP for fixing doors they broke themselves, so should electricians be able to remove and restore power to the same place.

I would say the power badge and the door badge are now the same badge. Also (contrary to what many say) in my experience the power badge wasn't an easy one.

Today I have 6 characters with a mixed strategy of leveling (hunting, reading, alchemy+sacrifice...). The highest level one (26) has only done power since the beginning of the breath. Imagine if we all just did that as the most efficient strategy. :?

Even back in the NW days, there were ways of quickly levelling up characters if that‘s all you wanted to do. And if your one and only goal in the game is to get to level 30 as quickly and unimagonatively as possible, you do you.
I now have a whole bunch of characters and each one plays (and, mostly, levels) differently.
Are some quicker than others? Sure. And some of them have the Engineering skill.
Does that take away from the fun? Not really.
In summary, I wouldn‘t begrudge someone a quick way to get to where they want to go. Most of us (I assume, but prove me wrong) are adults and can make that choice for themselves.
a pink cocker spaniel, really an oddly colored canine
a scrawny kid in a hero costume, making a difference
Brother Fugue, hard to recall even on a good day
Opher Foxaches, malarky done right
Quinn Tessance, an outlaw with a touch of whimsy
the Butch West India Company man, real gentlemen never go out of style

I'm afraid I might have been slightly misunderstood. I don't care if someone hits level 30 before me. If I had wanted to min-max all my characters with engineering, I could easily have done so. My point is that mechanics that encourage player interaction should be rewarded, and not the opposite.

Let's make an example. Suppose there's a skill where you press a button and it consumes all your AP in one go, converting them into XP multiplied by 2. Would you use it? What if it multiplied them by 3? What if it gave you a badge? What if you could use it even in the void? Would it have been a fun skill?

I naturally don't have the answers that are surely different for you than they are for me. However, I reserve the right to criticize (even while using it) the changes to engineering.

In don‘t see how the game is penalizing you for having fun. If you want to interact, which I do, then go for it. Sometime‘s that‘s gonna bite you in the behind, like when my connection dropped while I was explaining the difference between a pirate and a privateer, only to be subsequently stabbed to death by the pirate. I thought that was pretty funny, if a little on the nose.

I‘m fairly certain a good number of people would use that skill. Half of them would, after reaching max level, complain that it ruins the experience and should be removed. AND they should be refunded the CP. That‘s usually how interactions on the internet work, in my experience.

I never disabused you of that right. Opinions are like noses, everybody has one one but I don‘t necessarily like yours. Doesn‘t mean I can‘t look somewhere else.
For what it‘s worth, I really don‘t mind one way or the other, but as it stands, I don‘t see the need for a change.

That would be really neat. Maybe what manifests where could be related to alignment of SHs in the area, or infusions, or a combination of both. Or, lol, it could be random, and some Evil SH suddenly finds itself in the middle of Paradise, or a Good faction in Stygia. (Or whatever the names will be this Breath.) Or a SH prevents a different-aligned plane from manifesting over itself and any tile it touches, as long as it stands and for X days thereafter.
