For general discussion about the game that doesn't really delve into Mechanics (see the "Mechanics Discussion" section). In Out-of-Character discussion, you are expected to be courteous to others.
So, first things first: I have acquired an unfortunate case of brain stem cancer! Really cutting into my mobility and gaming time, I may have to idle some chars. plus, i want to try more classes i've never tried in case the prognosis is bad! But I feel guilty, as several are founding leaders of microfactions! what will happen to them if i go away??? idk, i've never idled before...
I'm going to first retool my play style to founder out in the open more, and just let people kill me. death farming online to avoid it irl?
Example: Anjaka of the Black Goat. can i transfer ownership? one of our 3 members is busy too! getting married, another brain affliction
Regarding faction leadership:
- You can just let them idle/release. When you reclaim them/become active you'll be leader again.
- If you make another character a leader, they'll be able to do all the leader stuff.
- Admins can also help sort out any random unforseen faction leadership stuff.
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, hopefully that's something that can be resolved! Definitely focus on what's important!
If the character who founded a faction rejoins it and there isn't another active leader, they'll become leader again when they rejoin. This is the only thing being founder does under the hood.
If someone else you like and trust is in the faction, consider making them leader. Plenty of thriving factions are not on their original leadership, and there's no shame in passing the reins.
And as Klapaucius pointed out, if things get convoluted admins and game mods can help sort characters back into places they ought to be.

Ugh! Sending good thoughts your way. I'm a cancer survivor (head/neck). I was there a couple of years ago. I got lucky (relatively speaking). Hopefully you will too.
