Eldritch Mixing not granting both capstones

Post by Kandarin »

When tested on devserver (in response to a query in Mages Council discord) with a Cold spell cast with Mix Death by a character with one Cold spell and all the Death spells, only the Death capstone was applied.

This isn't correct; it should be applying both capstones. The test cold spell was Ice Dart, a T2 spell.

Flagging this in a thread here because otherwise I'm going to forget about it.

can't replicate on dev, eldritch mixing with both 6/6 spell trees seems to proc both on a t3 ranged attack

if anything the bug perhaps is that eldritch mixing gets you capstone effects on spells that ordinarily aren't coded to have it (non-t3 ranged) combined with the design screwery that is 'can get full spell affinity effect by not having full spell affinity'

(6/6 cold + 6/6 electric t3 ranged)
- You attack Bruna with your Spark Spray spell and hit for 9 points of electric damage. The attack inflicted a lingering feeling of shock! The attack left a lingering chill! Her armor soaked 2 points of damage. This attack was a mixture of elemental energy! The cold energy mixed with the attack injures them for 12 points of cold damage! You gain 21 XP. (2022-01-03 06:43:37).

(6/6 electric effect on a t3 autohit)
- You attack Bruna with your Arctic Bolt spell and hit for 8 points of cold damage. The attack inflicted a lingering feeling of shock! This attack was a mixture of elemental energy! The electric energy mixed with the attack injures them for 5 points of electric damage! You gain 13 XP. (2022-01-03 06:46:01).

(6/6 cold effect on a t2 autohit)
- You attack Bruna with your Shocking Dart spell and hit for 5 points of electric damage. The attack left a lingering chill! Her armor soaked 2 points of damage. This attack was a mixture of elemental energy! The cold energy mixed with the attack injures them for 7 points of cold damage! You gain 12 XP. (2022-01-03 06:47:05).

(6/6 cold mixed with 6/6 electric touch attack, does absolutely nothing)
- You attack Bruna with your Fist of the Eel spell and hit for 16 points of electric damage. Her armor soaked 1 points of damage. You gain 16 XP. (2022-01-03 06:48:55).

(1/6 death mixed with 1/6 slash t2 autohit, effect is as expected)
- You attack Bruna with your Lacerating Dart spell and hit for 5 points of slashing damage. This attack was a mixture of elemental energy! The death energy mixed with the attack injures them for 5 points of death damage! You gain 10 XP. (2022-01-03 06:50:16).

(6/6 death t3 ranged giving full 6/6 cold affinity with only one cold spell as per its design apparently)
- You attack Bruna with your Lifesnuff spell and hit for 11 points of death damage. The attack left a lingering chill! The attack weakened the barriers between the living world and the void! This attack was a mixture of elemental energy! The cold energy mixed with the attack injures them for 12 points of cold damage! You gain 23 XP. (2022-01-03 06:58:52).

i guess i should figure out where i want capffinities to proc already 'cause this is a bit of a crossroads

The wiki implies you should get the second capstone even if you don't have 6/6 in the second element - this could be an issue with the wiki/skill description rather than the implementation?
