Cleave Portal in a place with no visible portal didn't appear to work, but did deduct resources

Desert Rain Frog https://nexusclash.com/clash.php?op=character&id=14200 tried to cleave a portal (with Cleave for 3 ap, 12 mp not portal for 10ap, 20 mp) home to get frogs to fling places. The option was present at 45, 49 Cordi but no portal appeared to come into existence. It's possible some type of Wizard endgame portal is hidden to his Conduit senses, but it did eat my AP, MP and the mark (so something was done anyway). The Cloven Portal status effect was created as well, but no Portal dropdown thing:
