Per wiki: https://wiki.nexusclash.com/wiki/Zombie
Zombies that inflict a killing blow against a character do not produce a corpse of that character. Instead, the corpse is raised for free as a zombie under the Lich's control and set to Aggressive vs Hostiles. This ignores any feature on the target that disallows leaving corpses in the first place; an enemy Lich with Death Mastery killed by your Zombie will produce a Zombie as normal.
Granted, it's not stated on the Necrophage wiki page, but it's a 3-into-1 superzombie, so it makes sense for this to apply to the Necrophage as well.

There's a pending fix for this for the next patch.
