Step 1. Die and leave a corpse
Step 2. Respawn
Step 3. Die elsewhere while the corpse from Step 1 is still around
Step 4. Let a Advocate/Redeemed perform Last Rites on the corpse that is in the location of your first death

This is not technically a bug; the intent of the skill is to allow you to use this when the character is "Dead" to ease their respawn cost. Usually you expect characters to have just one corpse, but as noted it is possible that many corpses may exist for a single character. The corpse does not need to be the "most recent" death.
