Cannot use Green Thumb with font mana

I had 14 mana, the font had 25 and Green Thumbing a rare component uses 15. Trying to do so while tapped into a font gave this message:
Don't know if this is also applies to Lich or WM equivalent harvesting skills.You do not have sufficient Magic Points to cause a Bunch of Lilies to grow in this location!
