Game Update Changelog - May 9, 2025

Game Mechanics
  • Added the mechanics for a new round of the Nexal Arena mode, to be launched sometime not long (hours at most) after this patch. You'll be able to make Arena characters immediately after the patch, but they won't be able to enter the Arena until it starts.
    • A whole new Arena map, a never-before-seen Unaligned plane which reflects the victory of the Forces of Free Will in the previous Arena in 2023.
    • The Arena is now entered solely via character creation.
    • All users have a single Arena Character slot independent of other character slots, which is visually distinct from other characters in the character selection screen. If removed from the Arena (through releasing), Arena characters will still need a regular slot to enter regular play and cannot rejoin the Arena. Characters in this slot can be created at any time, but can only spawn while a round is ongoing. Last special detail about these characters: Any credit store items (like renaming a sword, a custom top hat, etc) are refunded when the next round starts, because at that point inventories are wiped and reset.
    • The Arena now has a wider range of victory conditions rather than just Infusion.
    • Some other fun new mechanics have been added to the Arena that you will find once inside. Might take a bit of searching, though.
New Skills
  • Added Sin Seer, a new 30 CP standalone Archon skill. For 5 AP and 10 MP, the Archon may gaze into the soul of another character present in the area and get a list of (the broad categories of) evil deeds they have done in the last week. What the Archon learns will be broadcast to the room in a chant. Gazing into the soul of a Demon is fraught with peril and risks one's health. If the target is blameless of recent evil deeds and has non-negative morality (or good morality if scried on by a Zealot), they will receive a blessing. The skill cannot be used on your own alts.
  • Re-implemented Psychic Bloodhound skill (30 CP child of Tracking) which now synergizes with Tracking by showing the name of the character who left tracks provided the character has infused in the tile you are currently standing on during the past 24 hours.
  • Implemented new Eternal Soldier skill, Way of the Tireless Pursuit (30 CP) which synergizes with Tracking by allowing the Eternal Soldier to determine which set of tracks is the most recent.
  • Implemented new Void Walker skill, Murderous Intuition (30 CP)
    • Synergizes with Tracking by allowing the Void Walker to sense the morality (good, evil, neutral) of the character who created each set of tracks.
    • Synergizes with Tracking by showing the Void Walker how many corpses have been left by kills of each character who created a set of tracks.
Quality of Life and Interface
  • Pet types can now be set to a different stance in bulk, rather than all pets of your character.
  • Updated some Morality-affecting code so that more sins are properly logged to get picked up by Sin Seer.
  • Charged attacks are now remembered between character, pet, door, ward, and fortification attacks.
  • Added new avatars 293-307. Thank you for your amazing art addition iButt!
  • Clothing items are no longer restricted to one per slot - you can equip any* of them up to a total of 10 in any combination! *Armor is still restricted to either heavy or light+medium. Auras are still 1 per character.
Major Bugs
  • Corrects issues in the daily tick that were preventing execution of the following: Infusion and overlord processes, special tile overrides, Lightspeaker endgame, max rank corrections, superheavy item processes, NPC morality baseline corrections. (hotfix - 2025.04.25)
  • Corrects intermittent issue in the pet tick. (hotfix - 2025.04.25)
  • Rats and other pets that move every pet tick no longer phase through stronghold wards and other such barriers.
Minor Bugs
  • Chalk has absorbed tremendous amounts of 5G radiation recently; the Elder Powers have put a stop to it. It is once again consumed on use.
  • Characters you've found but can't see because they're invisible won't appear on the map anymore.
  • Release dialogue now correctly communicates that the release timer is one hour and not 24 hours anymore. Arena characters get a special warning on Release that this will remove them from the Arena.
  • Fixed (hopefully) an issue where special characters in character names were getting garbled in attack dialogue.
