Blood Transcription is an under-utilized (see: obscure, forgotten) defiler skill. It generates a decent income of spell gems, which become less useful as the breath progresses to the defiler. Now what if the blood gems could be used as an omnicomponent in alchemy in addition to soul ice? I think it would be a pretty decent use of all these blood gems.

What about replacing Soul Ice as the universal transmuter with Spell Gems for Defilers?

Soul Ice becomes so incredibly prevalent, once everyone starts defiling all the time, and especially when NPCs show up. It seems too easy to come by to be the best alchemy ingredient for demons.

Changing it to Spell Gems fixes that, as well as makes Blood Transcription more useful.

I'd say no to Spellgems.

I don't want just another character farming the same spots for the same spellgems for the same alchemy experience as a Defiler that I have with the Shepherd and Sorcerer. Soul Ice at least makes it a different resource that is gathered differently. It also requires engaging in combat and fighting other characters and/or pets, at least giving you something different to do than simply harvest and alchemize.


I would support Blood Spellgems + Soul Ice as two options for Defilers, thou. Blood Spellgems would require combat (or at least, finding fresh bodies) and so, much like Soul Ice, involve getting out there and finding other players to get the resources. I honestly don't find much use for Blood Spellgems, outside trying to randomly grab a utility spell off the rare spellcaster you'll stumble across, so I guess the additional use when you don't get a desired spell is a good idea.

I agree with erikune. No nonblood gems as omnis for defilers. Slice is nice, this suggestion is more for the rare case of someone having the skill blood transcription and finding a use for bloodgems when spells learning and gemcast needs are satisfied.
