Dodge is a skill that gives dodge.
Evasion is a skill that gives evasion.
Advanced Dodge is a skill that gives defense. This doesn't match the pattern. I propose it be renamed 'Defense' to match the fact it gives defense.

I think this level of clarity is valuable and worth a rename.

Good idea. Additionally, it'd be a great if the dodge/eva/def stat didn't have three names and was instead melee/ranged/_ defense

that always was rather straightforward to me hum
dodge melee, evade projectiles, .. defense is the odd one out as a stand-in for d&d armor class i suppose

I suppose it ended up being straightforward because it's probably been like this since NW (not that I can attest to that).
However, according to the first dictionary I checked (Oxford lang), dodge would work as a reactive thing against a threat (regardless of melee or range) while evasion would work in a preventive manner (again, regardless of melee or range). So, according to this, dodge would refer to skills such as the Mortal Dodge tree or Myrm's Super Reflexes which allow better reaction when getting shot at, while evasion would refer to Lich's Terrifying Aspect and Simulacrum, which prevent you getting shot at.
Anyway, if the stat was renamed, I'd suggest Defense. Or Avoidance, though it doesn't sound as good imo.
