Skill (Archon): Blessed Sight

Post by Atrele »

Child of Sin Seer, 60 CP.

This skill reduces the AP cost of Sin Seer to 1 AP.

More importantly, it gives the Archon the ability to "Absolve" the targeted character (the "penitent") of any witnessed sins for 3 AP. This costs the Archon MP equal to the number of sins absolved, and costs the penitent HP and MP equal to the number of sins absolved. This cannot reduce the penitent's HP below 1, but it will also inflict "Stigmatic Penitence" for a number of minutes equal to 3x the number of sins absolved. While under "Stigmatic Penitence", the penitent cannot gain HP or MP. However, any time the penitent would gain HP or MP, they gain MO instead. This is similar to Sorcerer's Might, except healing will not reduce the duration. Upon completion of the Absolution, the penitent's sins are completely absolved. Absolved sins will still be seen in Sin Seer, but they will be noted as "Absolved" and will not count against the penitent for the purposes of blessing. This does mean, in fact, that the Archon could then immediately use Sin Seer upon the penitent directly after commissioning the Absolution to bless them, even with "Stigmatic Penitence" active upon the penitent. "Stigmatic Penitence" remains after death, but only prevents MP regeneration, which raises MO as previously noted.

The Archon gains XP equal to the number of sins absolved, and gains 5 XP any time the penitent gains MO though "Stigmatic Penitence".

Absolution can not be performed on Tier 3 demons, any demon with negative morality, nor unallied Neutrals. Absolution CAN be performed on Tier 2 demons, providing they have positive morality. Presumably, these demons are already interested in the prospect of absolution for their sins. Absolution can be used on anyone who is targeted by Sin Seer in the same location: two separate Archons can perform Sin Seer and the absolution (And a third can presumably Sin Seer to provide a blessing, but the third does not need to witness the original Sin Seer or absolution.

Blessed Sight improves Word of Censure by improving accuracy equal to (the number of any sins declared)% against the target of Sin Seer while Word of Censure is active. Just in case the Archon needs to properly punish the sins.

Looks like it isn't really intended to be used aggressively but could certainly be used to annoy balance NCs/demons in a really quite odd way which I'm not quite sure how that would feel. Using it on a tanking IB in a raid doesn't feel like its intended purpose but not sure what guardrails you put on it to prevent that. Possibly just a 0 AP button to reject it and a character setting to auto reject?

Cool for helping people out of morality holes who want to be helped though.

I honestly think that if you're a T3 demon, you autoreject that. Honestly, this would just be fine just applying to goods, or allied neutrals.
