Gameplay: Taking Advocate Blessing - Relic Cost

Post by Meric »

I appreciate that advocate blessings were dropped in cost from 1ap to 0ap and this applies to both in person and relic blessings. Whether this was to encourage their usage Im not sure but I imagine so.

During a recent raid defence, I didnt even think to take blessings but there were ~3 relics littering the floor and when you have an advocate like my dear Eleanor running around, for 0ap you get:
  • +3 damage
  • +15% to-hit
  • +3 soak
  • +15% dodge
  • +10hp
  • absolving all negative status effects
  • Whatever else the blessing result is - can be as huge as +6 soak
This is the equivalent to some pretty expensive potion / spell prep - comparable to at least ~6ap minimum. If the relic is stocked they can do this ~10 times for 0ap and there is no (real) counter to a relic or a defenders ability to pull from it.

I appreciate not every Advo out there is Rank J or a blessing dispenser but this is a tad excessive for 0ap; especially on relics.

Id suggest blessings from relics should be least 1ap per blessing pull (or just tax Eleanor for her premium blessings)
Sunset Shimmer attacked you with a Frozen Gauntlet and hit for 62 points of holy damage. She was hiding! This attack was charged with righteous wrath! Their body strained with holy resolve as they added physical power to this attack! (2021-11-22)

I agree… blessings are pretty absurd for active raid defense. They serve as essentially a “win” button twice when I have used them on my rank D rev. Attached pics show “click defensive blessing once for 0 ap” and then “click twice and definitely a GI for 1 ap”.

With no other buffs, and before combinations, I hit for 17 with 115% accuracy.

With the new patch, advocate blessings auto-replenish, so that anyone -yes even midwesterners- can take some 0 AP blessings without feeling like they were taking the last one.
- Even inactive advocates will have a near-constant supply. And anyone with Part the Veil can more easily res entire raid teams, even if mostly inactive.

See below image for what my good-aligned revenant (a hunter class, not a tank) can get to by using 1 AP every 5 hours to drink a GI, and taking 1 blessing each from 2 advocates. Includes base 115% to hit with 17 arcane damage (plus ward bonus for arcane damage type, combination damage increase, pet-killing aura, regen health on hit).

This isn’t minmaxed and my in-game activity is low; I have banged up and inefficient armor, no bats, etc and took 2 random defensive blessings.

Free MP and low AP/MP costs for good PMs also let you get some ridiculous petwalls. Probably adding fonts to that I think we had 155 pets in the SH the other day, for however long it takes a JM to finally time out...

I guess what I'm trying to say is "Sorry Toads!"
