Attempting to bash as (the only) Throwing ES with way of the brawler, showed me that the weapons drop down menu was only populated with the normal melee attacks for my weapons when selecting an attack against a stronghold ward.
so yeah the bug is that you can't throw heavy melee weapons at wards at all. its not even an option even when you have the skill that lets you throw everything but the kitchen sink
