This can't be an intended mechanic... Can it? Since undead pets are immune to all death damage, including death auras from other liches (aren't they? I ran a lich last breath, and I think that was the case, but don't remember fights with other liches that well), and elementalist fire pets are immune...

Unless this is intended behavior, which I doubt. Basically, if there's a typhoon in the water tile, you can stay in the water all you want without swimming, the status effect doesn't even appear at all.
